Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps Richmond Movers has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our operations or supply chains. Richmond Movers is committed to conducting business ethically and responsibly and to respecting the rights and dignity of every person involved in our services.
Modern slavery is a crime and a fundamental violation of human rights. It includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, debt bondage, and human trafficking. Richmond Movers recognises its responsibility to identify, prevent, and address risks of modern slavery across all aspects of our business.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Richmond Movers operates under a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with or support any organisation, individual, or practice that exploits people or deprives them of their freedom or fair treatment.
All directors, managers, employees, agency workers, and contractors are expected to act with integrity and to uphold this policy. Any breach of this commitment is treated as a serious matter and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract, and reporting to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Supply Chains and Supplier Standards
The services provided by Richmond Movers rely on a range of suppliers, including vehicle providers, equipment and packaging suppliers, facility and maintenance services, and labour and recruitment partners. We are committed to working only with suppliers and contractors that share our values on human rights and fair employment.
We require suppliers to comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws. Our standard supplier expectations include the prohibition of forced, bonded, or involuntary labour; the prohibition of child labour in contravention of local laws; fair and lawful working hours and conditions; and respect for workers' freedom of movement and freedom from intimidation, threats, or abuse.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
Richmond Movers undertakes due diligence on key suppliers and higher-risk partners as part of our commitment to identify and manage the risk of modern slavery. This includes assessing the nature of the services provided, the location of operations, and the use of temporary or migrant labour.
We reserve the right to conduct supplier audits, which may include requests for documented evidence of labour practices, site visits where appropriate, and structured questionnaires on working conditions and recruitment processes. Where concerns are identified, we seek corrective action within a defined timeframe. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our expectations, we will review and may terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Richmond Movers encourages all employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to raise concerns about potential or actual incidents of modern slavery or human trafficking. No individual will suffer retaliation or detrimental treatment for reporting a concern made in good faith.
Concerns can be raised through internal reporting to line managers or senior management or through existing whistleblowing procedures. Reports may cover suspected exploitation, unethical recruitment, withholding of identity documents, coercion, or any other indicator of modern slavery. All reports are taken seriously, handled sensitively, and, where necessary, investigated promptly and thoroughly.
Training and Awareness
Richmond Movers is committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks among employees, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management. Training and guidance are provided to help staff recognise signs of exploitation and understand how to act if concerns arise.
We promote a culture where respect for human rights is integral to decision-making. Employees are reminded of our zero-tolerance stance and their obligation to act in accordance with our values and policies.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed annually by senior management to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. The review considers emerging risks in our sector, findings from supplier assessments, and feedback from employees and stakeholders.
Where areas for improvement are identified, Richmond Movers will update internal procedures, supplier requirements, and training initiatives. Our objective is to continually strengthen our approach to preventing modern slavery, supporting fair and safe working conditions throughout our operations and supply chains.
This statement is approved by the leadership of Richmond Movers and represents our ongoing commitment to combating modern slavery and human trafficking in all forms.
